Why and when should I create posts?

Posting is the simplest way to share content on Changemakers for Children. As in any other social media, a member can like, comment and reply to each other on these posts. You can also tag other users into the conversation using the @ symbol.

Please use posts only for short updates, asking questions and sending reminders to other community members. Use topics, and not posts, to share resources and for more elaborated content, as the platform moderators will be able to add your topic to our resource library and build a strong database of resources to support professionals globally.

Posting on the platform stream

Go to the landing page (Home) and scroll down until you find the platform stream. Click on the text box and type your text.  You can add images to your post by clicking on the "+ Add images" button. You can also tag other community members by typing "@" followed by the username.

The following visibility options are available:

  • Public - your post will display to everyone and can be shared externally
  • Community - your post will display to everyone on Changemakers
  • Group - your post will display only to the members of the respective group
  • Family Members - visible to Family Alliance Members only
  • Family for Every Child Secretariat - visible to Family Secretariat staff only

Changemakers for Children recognises video links from platforms like YouTube or Vimeo. If you share a video link, the platform stream will display the video once you post it. You can also share internal and external links in your post. However, Changemakers for Children currently does not display a link preview.

Click "Post" to add your content to the stream. If you want to edit or delete your post, or if you want to report another person's posts for inappropriate content, click on the arrow down icon on the right side of the post and select one of the options.

Posting on a group's stream

Access the group where you want to make your post. If you are not a member of that specific group, click the yellow button to join it, then follow the steps above to publish your post.

Posting in a group might reduce your options for content visibility depending on the group's settings. Read this article to learn how to join a group or a community.

Posting on another community member's profile

To post a message on another community member's profile, search for that community member using the "People" section or using the "Search all" function and follow the steps above.
