Welcome to the Family for Every Child Conversations on Care podcast. This podcast is a space where specialists can share with us how to provide care to vulnerable children and families around the world.

Family for Every Child is a growing network of 40 local civil society organizations representing 36 countries. These organizations have a wealth of knowledge and experiences from years of working with children and communities to develop solutions that improve child care.

In this podcast, Amanda Griffith, CEO of Family for Every Child speaks to Kate Bundle, Chief Executive of Grandparents Raising Grandchildren, based in Auckland, New Zealand, to share their experience on kinship care.

Grandparents Raising Grandchildren (GRG), was established in 2001, and grew out of a grassroots movement of support groups responding to the difficulties facing kin carers. GRG saw grandparents struggling to adjust to their roles as caregivers, and facing financial, social, and mental health difficulties.

GRG now supports over 9,000 grandparents and 16,000 children, providing caregivers across New Zealand with advocacy support; community outreach and support groups; resources; and a trauma-informed education programme called SALT - “Simply Acquired and Learned Techniques".

This podcast is rich in examples and evidence-based research to help set the context and understandings of the experience that grandparents have, and issues around system change in New Zealand.  Kate also provides advice to CSOs looking to implement kinship care.
