What does it mean to ‘formalise’ kinship care?

What are the benefits and challenges of formalising what is often a ‘natural’ process?

In this online event, we will hear about the different levels of formalisation in kinship care practice from practitioners in Brazil and South Africa, exploring what an ideal model might look like in each context.

Speakers:

  • Suzanne Clulow, Children in Distress Network (South Africa)
  • Claudia Cabral, Associação Brasileira Terra dos Homens (Brazil)

Join us to learn about these CSOs’ experiences of working within different kinship care systems, and how to apply this learning to your own contexts in order to increase support for kinship caregivers. Attendees will have the chance to connect and exchange directly with Family for Every Child members.

The session will be moderated by Fran Mhundwa, Senior Programme Advisor at Family for Every Child.

The duration of the event is 1 hour, including time for a Q&A session. Spanish and Portuguese interpretation will be available.
